Using EQ (Equatorial) mode on the ZWO Seestar (S50/S30) primarily eliminates field rotation inherent in Alt-Az mounts, allowing for longer individual exposures (20–30+ seconds) and sharper, rounder stars across the entire frame. It reduces lost frames, improves image signal-to-noise ratio, and enables easier stitching for mosaics.
Key Advantages of EQ Mode on Seestar:
- Elimination of Field Rotation: Unlike Alt-Az mode, which causes image corners to darken and stars to rotate over time, EQ mode keeps the image orientation constant.
